Resort
FOR GOLFERS
The Hacienda Riquelme golf course is a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course and is one of the courses that make up the Polaris World Nicklaus Trail. There are currently 4 courses open in the “Trail”, the other three are Mar Menor, La Torre and El Valle. 5 Other courses will be added when they are completed. Golfers have access to all these courses. The Hacienda Riquelme course is a par 72.
Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort is set in a country estate, a very peaceful and safe environment with a low construction density within an enclosed and security-controlled perimeter, located just outside Sucina village and easily accessible, 15 mins from Murcia airport / 40 mins from Alicante. It is close to the historical and cultural city of Murcia with its imposing architecture, beautiful cathedral, bustling plazas and trendy bars, while the therapeutic waters of the Mar Menor are only 10 minutes away. Mar Menor meaning "little sea" is Europe's largest salt water lagoon. It is about 5°C warmer than the Med and feels like a warm bath in the summer. Considered by the World Health Organisation to be one of the healthiest in the world, the aptly named Costa Calida or “warm coast” experiences around 320 days of sunshine a year and temperatures averaging 21c. A lovely climate indeed for year round holidays: hot summer for traditional family holidays, warm autumn and spring, perfect for golf and mild winter, ideal to get away from the colder climates of Northern Europe.
FOR NON GOLFERS
The apartments are also suitable for people who don’t play golf but just want a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings with access to large safe swimming pools. The beaches of the Mar Menor are sandy, gently shelving into the sea and very safe for children. There is also a train station near the entrance which can take you by local train into Murcia or Cartagena (or further afield such as Madrid and Valencia) for a bit of exploring or shopping. Granada and the Alhambra Palace is only 3 hours away.
SKIERS
If you fancy skiing, the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada is a scenic 3˝ hours drive away.
This region remains unspoilt and predominantly agricultural, surrounded by orchards of citrus trees and olive groves. There are many small towns in the area such as San Javier and its Dos Mares shopping centre, San Pedro and its famous mud baths known for centuries to be beneficial to people suffering from rheumatism, Santiago de la Ribera and Los Alcazares, all with glorious white sandy beaches, daily markets, restaurants and promenades. Golfers have the opportunity to play all Polaris World courses at a reduced residents rate and of course there are many other courses in the vicinity including the world famous La Manga Club, Hacienda Del Alamo, Roda, Serena, Lo Romero, Las Ramblas and Villa Martin to name but a few. You can enjoy many other sports there: tennis, all water sports, fishing, horse riding, quad biking, go-karts, etc... Boat trips are also available from Santiago de la Ribera to La Manga strip. You will only wish you had more hours in a day!
